The mission of Reality Changers is to transform lives, schools and communities by providing youth from disadvantaged backgrounds with the academic support, financial assistance, and leadership training to become first generation college students.
African Coalition Workforce (ACW) mission is to foster economic growth and self-sufficiency for African refugees, immigrants, and San Diego residents who lack the basic skills to access mainstream opportunities by providing employment services, financial empowerment, and youth leadership.
United Women of East Africa Support Team

The mission of CHCDC is to enhance the quality of life in City Heights by working with our community to create and sustain quality affordable housing & livable neighborhoods & foster economic self-sufficiency.
Crawford Community Connection (CCC)
CCC is a SAY San Diego school-based family resource center located on the Crawford High School campus. CCC partners with diverse community programs to serve Crawford Cluster students and their families by linking them to services such as emergency food, medical and dental assistance, public benefits screenings, and parent and child development services.
Youth Empowerment Focus
The mission of Youth Empowerment Focus is to develop youth leadership as the inspiration and catalyst that will engage the community in a multitude of activities to bridge education, communication and the cultural gaps that inhibit the growth and empowerment of the under-served youth.
Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility. They believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual’s right to privacy, and that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships.
The Pro Kids / The First Tee of San Diego’s mission is to challenge underserved youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills and values through education and the game of golf. Nile Sisters Development Initiative
Nile Sisters is a charitable organization founded in 2001. Being intimately acquainted with the daunting challenges facing a refugee entering the United States, founder Elizabeth Lou wanted to provide a broad array of services to help refugees and immigrants in San Diego acculturate and assimilate a new language, customs and systems that are inherent to the American way of life.
Stellar Care is an assisted living facility for the elderly. They are dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment, and are committed to serving residents’ physical, emotional and social needs with dignity and respect. Stellar Care offers assisted living services, dementia care, amenities, wellness program, activities and respite care (short-term stay).
Alternative Healing Network
Alternative Healing Network (AHN), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, promotes the use of integrative healing arts and improves access to ‘alternative’ health care in under-served neighborhoods. AHN believes that Western and “Alternative” medicine should be integrated for use together in hospitals and other institutions.
City Heights Farmers Market
Located in the heart of City Heights, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country, the market provides farm fresh produce at affordable prices, an array of hot food vendors in an outdoor café environment, live entertainment, craft vendors, regular community programming (bike rides, fitness activities, festivals, contests) and much, much more.
County of S.D. Maternal Child Family Services
Maternal, Child, and Family Health Services (MCFHS) is a multidisciplinary, multicultural division of the County dedicated to working with community and Health and Human Services Agency partners to promote health and to protect and support pregnant women, children, families and communities.
Include Autism is a not-for-profit organization providing services that instill autism inclusion. The focal program, Community Coaching, takes Applied Behavior Analysis and social skill training into the community, providing natural, hands-on opportunities for participants to develop adaptive, functional skills needed to become included in their community.
S.D. Family Care Mid-City Community Clinic Pediatrics
San Diego Family Care operates seven health centers in San Diego County, offering medical care, mental health care, dental care and multi-cultural health promotion with a primary focus on central San Diego. San Diego Family Care Pediatrics covers newborn through 18 years old.
Rady Children’s Urgent Care
Hospital-based Urgent Care Center serving the Mid-City pediatric population and following Rady Children’s Hospital’s mission to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy. Urgent care services are for injuries and illnesses that are not life or limb-threatening but need immediate attention.
Mid City CAN Food Justice Team
Mid-City CAN’s Food Justice Team is composed of adults and youth residents from City Heights working to improving school lunches in the San Diego Unified School District to be healthier and less processed. The Team is working to bring more local produce from City Heights farmers, a healthy fish option and certified halal options.
Through a class at Hoover, students will participate in “circles” and discover how circles will benefit students through problem solving together, resulting in better communications within the group. Students will learn skills to use in real life situations that they may carry through their life.
Sexual Health Advocates
With the collaboration of Planned Parenthood and San Diego County, students will be trained on health topics. Students will then plan and implement public health campaigns. Students will be given the options of making a poster, booth, workshop, video, etc. to spread the information they learned in the training to the rest of the Hoover student body.
Impact Young Adults
The mission of Impact is to enrich the lives of young adults with mental illness, ages 18-35, with experience of acceptance, personal growth and accomplishment. They use a peer-run model to create a supportive community with social activities, mentoring and leadership opportunities.
Center for Community Solutions (CCS)
CCS operates the only rape crisis center in the city of San Diego, as well as with a countywide 24-hour bilingual crisis helpline. In addition, the nonprofit provides emergency domestic violence shelters, hospital and court accompaniment, and legal and counseling services. CCS also works with local community groups and schools to provide innovative prevention programs to promote healthy relationships and peaceful communities.
Copley-Price Family YMCA
